Where your saves are kept, and what works offline
Everything you save stays on your phone. Here is exactly when Noodle goes online, what it sends, and which features work with no connection at all.
On this page
Everything you save stays on your phone. Noodle reads, translates, searches and answers questions on the phone itself, and nothing you save is uploaded anywhere. There are no ads and no tracking in the app.
When Noodle goes online
Noodle only uses the internet for these:
| When | What it contacts | What it sends |
|---|---|---|
| You save a YouTube or Instagram link | That video or post's public page | The link |
| You save a web page | That page (and its main picture) | The link |
| You download a smart feature | The site that hosts that download | A request for the file |
| You sign in (optional) | Our sign-in service and our server | Your email, your AI languages and basic phone facts |
Nothing else: no reader service, no AI service in the cloud, and none of your notes, photos, titles or search words.
What works offline
- Writing notes, recording voice notes and adding photos, videos and PDFs.
- Search, including finding things from a description and finding photos by what's in them.
- The Library, To organize, categories and tags.
- Ask Noodle and summaries, once downloaded.
- Plan and reminders.
- Backup export.
What needs a connection
- Reading a link you just saved. Offline, the link is kept with your note, and Noodle fetches it when you're back online. The save shows Couldn't fetch · retries when online until then.
- Downloading smart features and translation packs.
- Signing in.
Who can see your saves
Only someone holding your unlocked phone. Noodle doesn't add its own lock, so your phone's screen lock is what protects it. The widget, tiles and capture notification never show what you saved, only buttons and a count.
Good to know
- Your photos and videos are kept in the Noodle Assistant folder in Pictures, where your gallery can see them. Everything else is in the app's private storage.
- Uninstalling Noodle deletes your library from the phone. Export a backup first.
- The full privacy policy is on the privacy page.
