# Fix common problems in Noodle

> What to do when a link won't load, Noodle isn't in the share sheet, voice notes don't record, search misses something, reminders stay quiet or the app shows an update screen.

Fixes for the problems people run into most, with the messages exactly as Noodle shows them. For general questions, see the [FAQ](https://www.noodleassistant.com/docs/faq).

## Saving

### A link shows "Waiting to fetch" or "Couldn't fetch"

The site didn't give Noodle the page this time. Your link and note are saved either way.

1. Check your connection. **Couldn't reach the site. Check your connection.** means you're offline; Noodle tries again by itself.
2. Open the save and tap **Retry now** if it's offered.
3. If it says **The site didn't share it this time**, the site may want a login or be limiting requests. YouTube and Instagram do this now and then. Noodle tries again on its own later, and the save says when.
4. **It was removed, made private or never existed.** means the post or video is gone or private. Noodle can't read it.

### Noodle Assistant isn't in the share sheet

1. In the share sheet, scroll through the full list of apps for **Noodle Assistant**. Some phones hide the rest of the list behind a **More** button.
2. Check what the app is sharing. Noodle takes text and links, photos, videos, PDFs, audio files and contacts. For anything else, it isn't listed.

### "Only YouTube videos can be saved, not channels or playlists"

Noodle saves single videos. Open one video and share that.

### A web page says "Only part of this page was saved"

The page may be behind a paywall, need a login or be very long. What it showed is saved and searchable. Open it in your browser to read the rest.

## Voice notes

### The mic doesn't record

1. If Noodle says it **needs the microphone**, tap **Open settings** and allow the microphone for Noodle Assistant.
2. If it says **Download the speech models first**, tap **Download** and wait. This needs a sign-in and, by default, Wi-Fi.
3. Holding the mic records straight away only once the microphone is allowed and the voice download is on the phone. Until then, tap the mic instead.

### The words are wrong or in the wrong language

Tap the language chip on the record screen and pick the language you're speaking. Check that it's one of your [AI languages](https://www.noodleassistant.com/docs/account-and-languages).

## Searching

### Search doesn't find something I saved

1. Wait a minute if you just saved it. It shows **Getting it ready for search…** until it's ready.
2. Clear the filters: **Clear filters** under the results.
3. Describe it differently: what it was about, not what it was called.
4. Go to **Settings** → **Backup & storage**. If it says something like "3 items not indexed for search", tap **Index now**.

## Ask Noodle

### "Local AI isn't ready"

The Ask download isn't on your phone yet. Tap **Open settings** and download it ([how](https://www.noodleassistant.com/docs/ask-noodle)).

### Answers are slow or the app closes during an answer

Ask needs about 900 MB of free memory. Close other apps, especially games and camera apps, and try again. If answers stay slow, turn off **Think harder** in the message box.

## Reminders and the Daily reminder

### Reminders don't arrive

1. Make sure notifications are allowed: Android settings → Apps → Noodle Assistant → Notifications.
2. If Noodle says **Notifications are off**, tap **Turn on**.
3. Some phones stop apps in the background to save battery. In Android's battery settings for Noodle Assistant, allow background activity.

## Starting the app

### Noodle shows "Your library is safe" and Try again

An update to how your library is stored didn't finish. Nothing was lost.

1. Tap **Try again**.
2. If it keeps failing and you want an extra copy first, tap **Export my library**.
3. Tap **Restore the copy from before the update**. Noodle restarts with your library as it was.

### "Not enough free space"

Noodle copies your library before updating it. Free up some space (delete big videos or unused apps), then tap **Free up space and retry**.

### "Update Noodle Assistant"

The library was saved by a newer version of the app. [Install the latest version](https://www.noodleassistant.com/download).
