# Noodle Assistant FAQ

> Short answers about what Noodle costs, which phones it runs on, whether it needs an account or the internet, how private it is, and what it can and can't do yet.

## The basics

### Is Noodle free?

Yes. The app and every feature in it are free, with no ads. A paid Cloud plan (saves on every device, automatic backup, smarter answers) is planned but not available yet; see [pricing](https://www.noodleassistant.com/#pricing).

### Which phones does it run on?

Android phones. You install it from our [download page](https://www.noodleassistant.com/download), not the Play Store. iPhone, web and desktop versions are planned but not here yet.

### Do I need an account?

No. Noodle saves, organizes and searches without one. Signing in only lets Noodle download smart features for your languages, such as voice notes and Ask Noodle. See [account and AI languages](https://www.noodleassistant.com/docs/account-and-languages).

### Does it work without the internet?

Mostly. Saving, searching, Plan, reminders and Ask Noodle all work offline. Reading a new link and downloading smart features need a connection. Details in [privacy and offline use](https://www.noodleassistant.com/docs/privacy-and-offline).

## Privacy

### Does Noodle upload my notes?

No. Everything you save stays on your phone, and Noodle's smart features run on the phone too. It goes online only to read a link you saved, to download smart features, and for the optional sign-in.

### Can I lock Noodle with a PIN or fingerprint?

Not yet. Your phone's own screen lock protects it.

## Saving

### What can I save?

Typed notes, voice notes, YouTube videos, Instagram posts and reels, web articles, photos, videos, PDFs, WhatsApp voice messages and contacts. Several of these can go into one save. See [the Save page](https://www.noodleassistant.com/docs/the-save-page).

### Can Noodle read things in other languages?

Yes. It reads saves in many languages and translates them to English so you can find them. Voice notes work in the [AI languages](https://www.noodleassistant.com/docs/account-and-languages) you choose.

### Can I import my notes from another app?

Not yet. You can share notes into Noodle one at a time from apps such as Google Keep.

## Organizing and finding

### How many categories and tags can I have?

As many categories as you like, in one flat list, and up to 10 tags on each save. See [categories and tags](https://www.noodleassistant.com/docs/categories-and-tags).

### Does Noodle file things by itself?

By default it suggests a category and tags, and you tap to accept. In Settings → **Organizing** you can let it file on its own.

### Why didn't search find my save?

It may still be getting ready, a filter may be on, or a different description may work better. [Troubleshooting](https://www.noodleassistant.com/docs/troubleshooting) has the steps.

## Ask Noodle and Plan

### How good is Ask Noodle?

Good for questions about your own saves, simpler than big online assistants, and sometimes wrong. Every answer shows its sources so you can check. It's a one-time download of about 500 MB and runs best on newer phones.

### Can Plan repeat a task every week?

No. Plan has no repeating tasks, times or priorities. Add the task to each day, or put a [reminder](https://www.noodleassistant.com/docs/reminders) on a saved note.

## Your data

### How do I move Noodle to a new phone?

Export a backup, import it on the new phone and copy your Noodle Assistant photo folder across. [Backup and restore](https://www.noodleassistant.com/docs/backup-and-restore) has the steps.

### Does Noodle sync between my phone and tablet?

No. Each device has its own library. Sync is planned for the Cloud plan.

### What happens if I uninstall Noodle?

Your library is deleted from the phone. Photos and videos in the Noodle Assistant folder normally stay. Export a backup before uninstalling.
